I am an AutoCAD user for more than 18 years and am using Proengineer for the past 14 years.
I started using the subject software as an alternative to AutoCAD and found it better than AutoCAD till Versions 2008 and satisfies all my 2D needs, including "model space" and "Paper space".
The only hitch, if you have an embedded object in AutoCAD, that is not imported. The software also has problems importing dwg files > AutoCAD 2000. On the whole it is great, with 2D parametrics.
