If you are looking for CAD work from home, this article may help shed some light on how to get set-up for CAD designer jobs you can do from your home office.
Here are some suggestions that you may want to consider before venturing out on your own with CAD drafter jobs.
Experience is critical before you become a CAD freelancer and outsource computer drafting or design services.
So put your time in with a local firm and gain at least 2 to 3 years experience
in order to be taken seriously for computer aided design jobs from home.
I could spend a whole day flipping through all the resumes we receive from CAD drafting jobs applicants with little experience.
When you decide to start your own CAD company, it may be a good idea to ease
into it.
Test the waters by doing a few side drafting jobs first and slowly build your
clientele. You will know when it is the right time to consider commencing CAD
work at home on a full time basis.
Take your time and think of a good business name that sounds professional.
“Joe’s AutoCAD Drafting Service” probably won’t do, as you may come across to
your potential client as a fly-by-nighter looking for freelance jobs.
You will also need to register your business name in your country with the appropriate government office. Be sure to do a name search first to see if anyone else has already registered the name you have in mind.
You may also want to hire a graphic artist to come up with a logo for your freelance CAD work company.
Your potential clients are going to want to see how you will provide your
services. Be specific and brief.
Include your company name and logo at the top of the proposal. List your
credentials, the CAD services you will offer, how you will perform the work, where
you will work, typical project turn around times, and so on.
Indicate how you will provide your CAD services better or different than others are
already doing. You want to stand out in the mind of your potential client.
Save discussing your rates for a personal meeting or a call back from an
interested firm.
Get those yellow pages out and look up every company that you would like to
outsource CAD drafting services to.
Architects, engineers, fabricators, manufacturers, surveyors, and so on.
Call each firm and ask the receptionist, “Can you please tell me the manager’s
name?”
Then follow up with, “Can I also have your fax number?”
If the receptionist asks you why, indicate that you would like to send a proposal to the manager.
Most computers come with a fax modem that can be used with fax software to send
out your offer to provide your professional services.
Set it up to fax over night and by morning all your faxes will be sent out.
