AutoCAD 2015 locking up / freezing computer during crossing selections

Having an issue with AutoCAD 2015 in that it is irregularly locking up / freezing the computer during crossing selections. (this is a hard lockup requiring unplugging the workstation to restart)

All software updates and settings have been optimized and the hardware on the workstation has been has been thoroughly tested and updated as well.

Any thoughts on what else may be causing this?
